I was offered a freelance Agency Director position at BD Network who were looking for an experienced AD to hit the ground running. They had recently won a pitch to create a complex on-pack promotion for Coca-Cola to support their sponsorship of the Olympic Games.
This was quite a hands-on role which involved me managing a team of Account Managers and Executives of varying stages of experience, and heading up the communications with the client.
I worked with the internal Project Manager to streamline many of the existing processes to meet the needs of a client as large as Coca-Cola’s.
By the time I finished working with BD Network, the on-pack promotion was ready to launch and the team were in place to manage the activation.
My time at TBWA (or ‘Being’ which was part of the TBWA network at the time) was short but sweet!
I was brought in as an experienced Account Director to work on the Electrolux account, whilst a full time recruit was being sourced.
Electrolux were sponsors of the Cannes Film Festival and my brief was to work with the client to showcase its 90 years of expertise and increase their brand visibility.
I forged a good relationship very quickly with the client and streamlined the process for the Account Director who was brought in on a full-time basis.
This was a full-time freelance Account Director position which extended into a long-term engagement mainly due to the strong bonds that I forged with both the Account Managers and Directors.
I was initially brought into work on the Visa account, really as an extra pair of hands as the account was growing quite rapidly at the time. I worked closely with the Senior Account Director to manage a pan-European through-the-line sales promotion and much of my role included integrating with the branding agency, Saatchi & Saatchi.
When that initial brief came to a close, I was asked whether I could stay on to work as part of the Project Management team on various on pack promotions for Britvic (specifically on the J20 and Tango accounts). A very exciting and fast-paced environment working with the Creatives on quick turnaround and high-pressure campaigns.
